Established in 1984 we were one of the first disco shops in the South of England.
Since that time many shops have come and gone, but we are still here serving DJ's,
nightclubs, professional users and the general public. We pride ourselves on our
unrivalled hire service - we have the largest disco hire department in London,
supplying everthing from basic disco lights to DMX lighting rigs, 200 watt to 15K sound
systems, complete DIY disco units and anything else that you could possibly need, all
backed up with our knowledge and vast experience of the discotheque market.
Our sales department has its' own very firm foundations, based
totally on customer service. We may not be the cheapest option, we may
not offer price matches on some products, but we cannot be beaten for
pre-sales and after sales service. We will listen to your requirements
then advise you on what we think is your best option - not the option
that earns us most money - we have no sales reps, all our staff are
salaried, so no pressure is put upon you. We have vast experience within
the disco industry, Abracadabra is owned and run by working professional
disc jockeys. All the equipment that we sell has first been scrutinised
for its' value for money - often we take new equipment out on the road
to see how it fares. It is a testament to our level of service and knowledge
that we are actively sought out by some manufacturers to supply our opinion of their
new products, and to be their preferred retailer.
We supply DJ's and mobile discotheques to a wide range of events, from childrens parties
to celebrity weddings and everything in between. Unlike a lot of agencies we only
use a handful of DJ's, all very experienced and friendly, and all of them take pride
in their work. When you book a disco with us we will supply you with the best person for
the job. We are able to advise you on your needs if you wish, with over 20 years of
experience there are not many situations we haven't had to deal with!!!
We have our own on site service department which is run by a very experienced engineer.
We are recommended by many manufacturers including Citronic and Vestax to do out of
warranty repairs and there is very little that we can't fix.
Expanding our horizons beyond the disco market we now offer fully tailor made firework
displays for all occasions too
The Team
Graeme Wood - Owner of Abracadabra
Graeme worked as a computer engineer for seven years then quit to take over the
ownership of Abracadabra in 1994. He has a wealth of experience in the disco industry,
having started working as a DJ at the age of 17 way back in 1985. Now with well over
1000 discos under his belt he is ideally positioned to pass on his wealth of knowledge
and experience to others.
He has worked in a huge number of venues, and even compered the Karaoke at a Pop Stars
wedding!!!
A true believer in sharing information and working together with other DJ's, his
refreshingly laid back approach to what can be a very bitchy industry has earned
him a great amount of respect.
All his newsletters end with the sentence "the kettle is always on." - AND HE MEANS
IT!!! Always willing to take time with others, to help those less experienced whilst
at the same time learning whatever he can from others.
Dan Burt
Like many of the past staff members, Dan came to Abracadabra originally as a work experience student
then never really left. He graduated from Kingston College with distinction after studying theatre tech
and now works alongside Graeme in the shop. Dan is a very keen and able sound engineer and has a very good
imagination and eye for detail.
Jon Duncan - Service Engineer
Jon was originally employed as a service engineer for Abracadabra but was so successful
that he ended up starting his own repair business just to be able to keep up with the
demand that there was for his services. He is still very much an integral part of
Abracadabra, providing everything from expertise and knowledge on complex ventures down
to repairs on our own, and our customers equipment. Please see the "repairs" section
